The Earth-observation rung re-rated as Planet's Amazon-monitoring deal and a sector bid lifted the imaging names.

Satellogic (SATL) led the vertical, up 7.8% to $5.94, but with no verified same-day catalyst — the sub-$6 imaging name rode a sector-wide re-rating of commercial Earth observation rather than a dated release (its last was a mid-September Slingshot III expansion with the US Navy). It sits on the sub-meter imaging chokepoint the vertical maps, and its move paired tightly with Planet's, which suggests institutional rotation into the EO-and-defense-intel vertical rather than a single stock story. On a flat broad tape, that was a sector call, not market beta.

SES (SGBAF) was the laggard, down 3.5% to $5.27, on its thin US OTC line — low-volume drift on the Luxembourg satellite operator with no dated Sept 24 catalyst, best read as noise rather than signal. Comtech (CMTL) −3.5% to $1.39 was the other weak spot, a penny stock grinding near a 52-week low on continued post-earnings weakness.

The imaging leader that did have news was Planet Labs (PL), up 7.6% to $17.62, on a dual catalyst: the launch of "Amazon.ia," a Bezos Earth Fund-backed initiative pairing Planet's satellite data with AI to monitor Amazon biodiversity, plus confirmation that its new Berlin facility will roughly double manufacturing capacity for European demand — the data-and-constellation chokepoint monetizing recurring imagery. The rest of the basket rose in sympathy: Rocket Lab (RKLB) +4.7% to $73.61 on the launch-cadence re-rating (no dated release), Karman (KRMN) +5.7% to $34.92 on defense-space-supply-chain strength, SiTime (SITM) +5.6% to $643.24 on precision-timing and AI/semis momentum, and BlackSky (BKSY) +4.1% to $23.17 alongside Intuitive Machines (LUNR) +3.0% and Redwire (RDW) +2.9%. These are sector-momentum moves, not fresh single-name catalysts.

The catalysts ahead are launch- and program-driven. Satellogic targets the first launch of its AI-first constellation satellite around Oct 31, and Rocket Lab's Neutron medium-lift maiden launch has a Q4 window that is narrowing toward a possible 2027 slip; RKLB reports Q3 in early November. SpaceX's 180-day IPO lockup fully expires Dec 9, the SDA Tranche 3 Tracking Layer milestones and NRO commercial-imagery awards land late in the year, and China's germanium/gallium export-ban suspension lapses Nov 27 — the compound-semiconductor input the space-radiation-hardened chokepoint depends on.
