A quiet space tape let CACI lead on a $500M counter-UAS award, while Moog fell 7% on a big earnings beat — a valuation reset, not an order-book problem, ahead of a wall of Q2 prints.
On a subdued Friday for the pure-play launch and satellite names, CACI topped the basket at +4.3% to $497.75. The catalyst was a defense-electronics win rather than a space contract: CACI announced on July 30 a $500 million counter-UAS IDIQ vehicle, with SkyValor selected as the first task order under JIATF-401's Domestic Shield effort — the latest in a July run of awards that also included a $308 million VA deal and a $113 million Navy contract. CACI earns its place in this vertical through its space and ISR ground-segment and optical-comms work, and it led here mainly because the rockets-and-birds cohort was quiet; the honest framing is a contract-driven move in an adjacent chokepoint, not a launch-cadence signal.
Moog was the clear laggard, down −7.0% to $389.85 despite a decisive fiscal Q3 beat — EPS of $3.72 against a $2.66 consensus on revenue of $1.12 billion, up 15.2% year over year. The sell-off was a valuation and guidance reaction after a strong run, not an operational miss. Moog is the precision motion-control and actuation chokepoint for launch vehicles and satellites (and for flight controls across aerospace and defense); the quarter says the order book is healthy, and Friday's move was a multiple reset on top of it.
The broader tape was quiet-to-mixed, with the LEO-comms and payload layer holding a modest bid. Globalstar rose +4.1%, BlackSky +2.6%, Satellogic +2.6%, Redwire +1.8%, Planet +1.3%, and AST SpaceMobile +0.9%, while Rocket Lab was roughly flat at +0.4%; among the primes, Northrop Grumman added +1.4% and Karman +2.0%. The red marks clustered in legacy aerospace and the newly public launch proxy — Boeing −2.2%, the SpaceX tracking line SPCX −3.4%, and Frequency Electronics −3.2%. The chokepoint read: the constellation and optical-terminal names that supply the SDA transport-and-tracking build were firmer than heavy legacy launch.
Next week brings a wall of Q2 prints. Firefly Aerospace and 5N Plus report August 4; BlackSky and Rocket Lab — Rocket Lab's first full quarter owning Mynaric and CONDOR — on August 6; CACI's fiscal Q4 August 7; AST SpaceMobile August 10; Redwire and Viasat August 12; Gilat August 13; Intuitive Machines August 18. Northrop Grumman's DARPA Mission Robotic Vehicle is set to launch on a Falcon 9 around August 15, SpaceX's first post-IPO print is expected near August 20 with a lock-up tranche the next day, and the SmallSat conference convenes in Salt Lake City August 23 as SDA Tranche 2 launches begin in September.
