A hawkish Fed hold and a jump in long yields sold the entire long-duration space complex — launch, imaging and PNT names fell together, and the basket's only green was a private-fund NAV mark.

The space basket's only real green on Wednesday was not a listed operator: the Fundrise Innovation Fund wrapper (VCX +3.3% to $34.92), a private-markets NAV that carries SPV sleeves of launch and defense-space names, not a tradeable session read. Among names that actually trade, only Aerospacelab (ASRHF +1.0%) and BAE's ADR (+0.1%) held green. Everything priced on launch cadence and orbital infrastructure fell, because the day's story was macro: the Fed held rates in a divided 9-3 vote, three regional presidents pushed for a hike, and the 10-year yield jumped seven basis points past 4.67%. Space is the longest-duration hardware trade on the board, and a yield spike marks its far-out payoffs down first.

Frequency Electronics was the laggard, −13.2% to $57.69, with no company-specific catalyst — simply the highest-beta name in the basket. Frequency Electronics owns the precision-timing and PNT chokepoint: the atomic clocks and frequency references that keep satellites synchronized and enable navigation when GPS is denied or jammed. It is critical infrastructure with a thin float, and thin-float critical-infrastructure microcaps are exactly what a de-risking tape sells hardest.

The selling ran across every layer of the stack. Launch and space-infrastructure names broke together — Rocket Lab −8.3% to $58.60, Redwire −9.2% to $7.78, Intuitive Machines −7.9% to $11.39, Karman −8.0% to $45.59, Spire −7.3% to $10.54. The connectivity chokepoints fell with them: AST SpaceMobile −6.2% to $53.03, the direct-to-cell bet whose value is almost entirely out-year, and BlackSky −6.1% to $20.61 in Earth-observation. Mercury Systems −9.3% to $90.17, the rad-hard RF-and-processing supplier, was among the worst — the same duration math running through the components as through the platforms.

The calendar hands the basket real prints to reset on. Iridium's PNT ASIC reaches commercial availability around mid-year; 5N Plus and Firefly Aerospace report Q2 on August 4; BlackSky and Rocket Lab follow August 6, the latter's first full quarter owning Mynaric's laser-comms line. AST SpaceMobile reports August 10 and Redwire August 12. Northrop Grumman and DARPA's Mission Robotic Vehicle is slated to launch on a Falcon 9 around August 15, SpaceX's first post-IPO quarterly print is estimated near August 20 with a lock-up tranche releasing the following day, and the SmallSat conference opens August 23. Those events, not one hawkish afternoon, decide the trend.
