Space's July 8 rebound was selective — rad-hard silicon and in-space names recovered, Redwire +3.6% and SiTime +3.4% — while Frequency Electronics fell 5.9% into today's earnings.

The space basket's top line was Comtech (CMTL) +3.7% to $1.94, but on a sub-$2 name mid-restructuring the move is tape, not signal: Comtech is exiting the ground-segment chokepoint it nominally occupies here, having agreed to sell its satellite-and-space business to Gilat for $157.5 million to pay down debt. The substantive rebound sat elsewhere. On a chip-led session — the Nasdaq 100 +0.3% on Broadcom (+4.8%) and Nvidia (+3.7%), against a Dow down 577 points on oil and yields after President Trump called the Iran ceasefire "over" — the space names tied to silicon recovered: Redwire (RDW) +3.6% to $10.58, reversing part of its 10% July 7 drop; SiTime (SITM) +3.4% to $612.13 and Texas Instruments (TXN) +2.7% to $301.32 at the rad-hard-silicon and atomic-clocks-PNT chokepoints; and Telesat (TSAT) +2.6% on optical terminals.

The laggard was company-specific and dated. Frequency Electronics (FEIM) fell 5.9% to $58.58 the session before its fiscal Q4 report, due today, July 9. FEIM sits at the atomic-clocks-PNT chokepoint — the space-qualified oscillators and frequency references that anchor timing on GPS-denied platforms — and comes into the print with a record ~$83 million funded backlog and two contracts worth roughly $45 million entering the fourth-quarter book. The pre-earnings drop was positioning, not news; the number this morning is the read on whether that backlog is converting to revenue.

The rebound was distinctly uneven, which is the session's real story. Several high-beta names kept sliding even as the chip tape rallied: Intuitive Machines (LUNR) −4.6% to $17.02 at the lunar/in-space-infrastructure node, Spire (SPIR) −3.5% and Planet (PL) −3.2% in earth-observation, and Viasat (VSAT) −3.5% on the ground/optical side. The split — silicon and timing suppliers up, imagery and lunar names down — says the market re-risked the space complex through its semiconductor exposure, not its growth-stage services, leaving the cash-burning end of the vertical behind.

Earnings and one marquee print define the window. Frequency Electronics reports fiscal Q4 today; Texas Instruments July 21; L3Harris, Teledyne and STMicro July 23; Iridium July 24; then Rocket Lab and BlackSky on August 6 and AST SpaceMobile August 10. Redwire reports Q2 on August 12. The set-piece remains SpaceX's first post-IPO quarterly print, estimated around August 20, with the SPCX lock-up's first tranche releasing near August 21 — the supply-and-disclosure event that will reprice the launch chokepoint on the public tape.
